DESCRIPTION:Dans le cadre de l’atelier-laboratoire « Performer la pensée »\, Chloé Galibert-Laîné et Chloé Lavalette accueillent Daniel Cockburn\, cinéaste canadien dont le travail explore\, à sa manière\, les lieux d’intersection entre recherche et création. Au programme : projection d’un vidéo-essai qui bouscule les codes de la conférence académique avec humour et poésie\, suivi d’une performance autobiographique dans laquelle le cinéaste fait retour sur les films de son enfance. Exceptionnellement\, la séance aura lieu en anglais. \nThe Argument (with annotations) \nThis short video essay questions the seemingly commonplace human ability to construct and understand metaphors. That’s what the film is for a while\, anyway. Then something else happens. « The Argument » is intended as a riff on the genres of the essay-film and the more recent video essay form\, a riff whose narrators authority is called into question. \nHow Not to Watch a Movie \nThis autobiographical lecture performance tells the tale of a child who “discovered he could turn any film into a horror film simply by watching it” and asks what happens when such a child grows up and turns his superpowers on the real world. \nBande-annonce \nAprès avoir passé son adolescence à travailler dans un vidéoclub de sa ville natale dans l’Ontario\, Daniel Cockburn a réalisé à ce jour une vingtaine de films courts et longs qui mêlent fiction\, essai littéraire et recherche expérimentale. Son long-métrage You Are Here (2010)\, très inspiré par l’œuvre de Jose Luis Borges\, a remporté plusieurs prix et a été montré dans plus de 40 festivals internationaux (Locarno\, IFFR\, TIFF…).
